What is the car donation process like?
The process is easy, fast and free! 

Is my car donation tax deductable?
Yes! All vehicle donations are eligible for a tax deduction. To learn more about the kind of tax deduction your donation qualifies for, visit our tax advantages page.

How quickly will my vehicle be picked up?
After submitting your vehcile's information online, someone will contact you within two business days to arrange the pickup of your vehicle - usually within one week. If you require more immediate assistance, feel free to contact Tim Lynch, Vehicle Processor at 860.218.2970, ext 3#.

Does my car need to be registered or running to be accepted?
Vehicles need not be registered or running to be accepted. We will arrange to tow your vehicle, free of charge.

Will you accept any vehicle donation?
We can accept any vehicle provided you hold a valid title - some exceptions to this requirement can be made in Rhode Island, contact Tim Lynch at 860.218.2970, ext 3 for more information. All vehicles with a title will be accepted regardless of condition or mileage.

What kind of paperwork can I expect?
Good News Garage provides an immediate car donation receipt that can be used to return/transfer license plates, and cancel registration and insurance. A tax deduction letter will be mailed to you once the disposition of the car has been determined (usually in 4-10 weeks). If the value of the tax deduction exceeds $500, a GNG staff member will contact contact you to obtain the social security number of one person listed on the car’s title. This is in compliance with the tax law that went into effect on January 1, 2005. The number is used on IRS Form 1098-C, of which you will receive a copy.
